Dr. Harter has an exceptional background in family medicine. In addition to being one of the few Iowa physicians awarded Fellow of AAFP in 2004, he was elected to multiple committees at his previous clinic, including Policy Council, Medical Practice, Finance and Operations. He also sat on the Medical Executive Board. He views the staff at Cedar Valley Family Medicine as a “close-knit family” and believes in adding a “personal touch” to the patient/provider relationship.

In his spare time, he is active with Troup 55 of Scouts BSA (formerly known as Boy Scouts). He has helped nearly 200 scouts earn their Eagle Rank. He has been on the medical staff for four BSA Scouting National Jamborees and one World Jamboree. On fall and winter weekends, Dr. Harter assists at FIRST Robotics competitions as either a referee or a judge.

Michaela Johnson has 10 years of experience in the medical field and has worked at Cedar Valley Family Medicine since 2019. In the years prior to joining the team as a nurse practitioner, Michaela worked as a pharmacy technician, ER medical scribe and ER nurse.

Originally from Waterloo, Michaela and her husband are parents to three boys who keep them busy with football, baseball and wrestling.
